Six-y Bohs bring side back to earth

U-17 LEAGUE DROGHEDA UNITED BOHEMIANS 0 6

-

AFTER a great cup performance on Tuesday night, the Drogs were brought back down to earth on Sunday when they were comprehensively put to the sword by a strong and skilful Bohemians team who showed no mercy to the home side and were 4-0 up at half time.

There was a skill and age gap between the two teams which the Drogs found hard to bridge and to be fair they looked a tried team after their Cup exertions.

They were also without the suspended Kyle Molloy and the injured Luke McNally.

The Drogs were never allowed to settle and conceded the first goal on eight minutes.

The visitors added two more by the 23rd minute and their fourth on the half hour.

James Carroll, Dylan Scully and Kyle Molloy worked very hard with very little reward as the visitors cruised through the first half.

With the defence and midfield under pressure at all times, Gavin Taylor, Conor Frayne and Prince had very few chances.

In the second half, the Drogs moved Paddy Conway and Conor Frayne into midfield and this gave them a better shape, but Conway went off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, to be followed by Tom Adeyinka with a similar problem.

But even though the team were under pressure for most of the match, they persisted in passing the ball out of defence and trying to play the ball on the ground.

They conceded two more goals on 52 and 74 minutes, but the whole team can take plenty of credit for not letting their heads drop and trying their best to the very end.
