The second half began with Stabannon on the front foot, forcing Elaine Flood in the Blues goal into three saves in the early stages before they regained the lead through Rachel McNally.

Newtown Blues fought back and began to win the midfield battle with Collins converting two points, giving them the advantage before Stabannon showed their character with a fine goal from Mc- Nally giving them a two point lead.

But in a game of twists and turns the Blues again pointed through Collins with Stabannon’s Grace Rogers converting at the other end to maintain their lead before.

But when Laura O’Shaughness­y found the back of the net with five minutes remaining the Blues were a one point to the good.

Stabannon fought hard to the end but the Blues held out with Collins adding a final score to confirm victory in injury time.
