Singles tournament draws the crowds

-

final two ends to take the win.

The next match between Josephine Moran and Jack Howell ebbed and flowed, with both enjoying a period of dominance and the lead changing hands a couple of times. But eventually it was Josephine who found a bit extra on the home stretch to take a hard-earned victory.

In the third match the bowling and scoring was of a very high standard as John Hurley took on Thomas McGuinness. Thomas got off to a flyer, opening a three-shot lead early on, but John slowly found his touch and there was never more than a bowl between the pair.

Eventually it was John who produced some superb shots to the head to take victory in the final two ends.

In the final match of the night Sean Donnelly made a bright start against Gertie Griffin, opening a four-shot cushion.

Gertie didn’t panic and wiped out the deficit to draw level, but Sean came again and this time he left Gertie too much to do, opening a three-shot lead with just one end to play.

That proved too big a task for Gertie and Sean took the win by four.

Meanwhile, the draw for the next round of the Singles Championship tournament will be held at 8.30 on Thursday evening.

Times of play this week are Juveniles, Tuesday 7-8pm; Seniors Tuesday and Thursday 8-10.30pm.
