Late burst sees Jaymie home

-

GREENHILLS members were treated to a fine display of bowling as Jaymie Crone and Megan Devin clashed in the final of the Juvenile Championship Singles last Tuesday night.

There was never going to be much between these two fine young players and they duly served up a very tight affair.

Jaymie bagged the first two ends on the bounce, but Megan hit back to take the next two and level the match.

Jaymie dug deep to secure the next end, but Megan showed nerves of steel to take control of the contest taking a three-shot lead with two ends to play.

Jaymie knew he had to step up to the mark and he fired into a packed head to reduce the deficit to one. The tension was running high at that stage and Jaymie showed great composure to clinch victory by tree shots.

The prizes were presented by LMFM Late Lunch presenter Gerry Kelly, who stated in his address that he was very impressed by the high standard and tactical skill and awareness of the two finalists. He complimented them on the sporting manner in which the game was played and said he was delighted to be invited along to present the prizes.

Chairman John Hurley thanked all the juveniles for taking part over the last eight weeks and the umpires and parents for bringing the juniors to the club every week. He also thanked Gerry Kelly for taking time out from his busy schedule and the ladies for the splendid supper.

Times of play: Juveniles Tuesday 7-8pm; Seniors Tuesday and Thursday 8-10.30pm.
