It’s exciting times in the Cille’s club

wanting in any way.

‘The whole thing has caught the imagination of the public. Hopefully this is the start of many more bright days ahead.’

You don’t have to travel too far out the road from Drogheda until you are met by a sea of colour, with every vantage point decked with the navy and blue of the Cille’s. Supporters have also been busy stockpiling flags, hats and headbands for the big day - also being organised from within the club.

‘We have had a number of different shops on the go and the Towell family, who are good supporters of the club, set up a pop-up shop here last week in association with O’Neill’s Sportswear,’ Loughman continued. ‘They have managed to pull out all the stops and turn around gear at very short notice.

‘We also have Pat’s Centra in Bettystown selling tee-shirts, flags, scarves and head bands. The stuff is flying out the door. There has been a lot of colour up since last October and it is getting brighter, and it is good to see Laytown in particular. We haven’t drawn as much out of Laytown in the past - it is full of colour now which is great.

‘Manager Colm Nally is quick to embrace the supporters coming to watch the training. We would be a bit concerned the lads would be caught up in all the hype, but Colm would be very much of the view that these are life experiences.

‘The mayhem that there was against Dunderry in the intermediate final, and against Round Towers, Pomeroy and Rosemount, supporters lifted the lads and got us over the line in those games. A double-header in the semi-final with two Tyrone teams, and we had the biggest support there. Let’s hope they can do the same and get over the line against Westport.’
