have done the physical work off the training pitch and in the gym - they are a big strong team.

‘Last week was hard to take. During the weekk there was a bit of soul-searchingng going on. We and lookedwe could atviduld videos see occasions s where playerss were in a position to affect play, but they didn’t actually y do that hard bit. .

‘That was thehe difference today. ay. Once we got intonto a defensive positionition we actually did somethingomething and that can be one of the problems with a defensive system, when everyone gets into a position, but nobody does anything, I don’t think we can be accused of that today.’ Being just two points in arrears at half-time after playing into a strong breeze in the opening ing half left MeaMeath in a good position, bbut McEntee wasn’t overly confident dent that his side wouldwou‘ ‘It was kick a on. decent ce position to be in, so long as we didn’t startsta thinking thattha the wind was going to win it for us and we’d start laslashing balls in. ‘We just had to keep playing. Two pointsp down against a wind like that wasn’t an awful lot. ‘Having said that, we certainly had two goal chances in the first half and we were kind of wondering were they going to come back to bite us in the ass.

‘We kicked a couple of wides early in the second half and you start to wonder are we going to panic a little bit, so that was pleasing that we kept picking our way through and popped a few balls into our full-forward line and got the support runners coming through.

‘Eventually when the goal came it put Derry in a tough position. When you are behind and playing into a wind like that it is not easy, so once we got the first goal it gave our lads a bit of a boost and we didn’t have to chase it.

‘We were able to sit back and do what teams have done to us in the past. We sat back and hit them on the break, I guess that’s where the other goals came from.’
