DEZZIE ON WAY TO WEST HAM

Ardee Celtic FC man joins the Hammers

-

IT’S always great to hear about young local players getting a chance in England and to make it in the professional game.

So, the very best of luck to young Desmond ‘Dezzie’ Jibona who is off to the home of football - West Ham United.

The Ardee Celtic striker will be part of the club’s youth set up and will be mixing his studies with playing for the under 18’s at the world famous club.

The Ardee club has a great set up and as they say, he’s another of their young players to come up through the ranks and he made his debut in the first team two years ago.

His Celtic side play in the highly competitive Dundalk League and in 2016, they won the under 17 League title.

He was also in the Ardee youth side that won promotion in their first year in the NEFL Reserve League. He also bagged 19 goals.

‘We are delighted that Dessie has been afforded this opportunity and wish him well in what will be a demanding time for him across the water. Best of luck Desmond from all at Ardee Celtic,’ the club said this week.

There is no doubt Dezzie has what it takes to make a big impact at the East London club.

But football is a funny old game and Nick Colgan can tell you that. The Brookville man was the goalkeeping coach at Huddersfield and masterminded their promotion to the Premiership thanks to a penalty shootout at Wembley recently.

Then what happens, he gets relieved of his position at the club! - there’s no loyalty in football as they say.

Expect Colgan to be back in a top role somewhere shortly.
