Fechin’s to face off in big lips battle!
PERFORMERS are set to battle it out on stage at St Fechin’s fundraising Lip Sync Battle, which takes place in City North Hotel on 30 December next. Details of the event were launched in Forge Field Farm cafe last week, as footballers, parents and locals listened intently and dreamed up eyecatching – and vote catching – song and dance routines.
The aim of the event is to raise funds towards the construction of a community centre to serve the greater Termonfechin area, outlined club chairman, John McEvoy. ‘ The club relocated the pitches to Beaulieu 17 years ago, and plans for the accompanying community centre were put on hold due to the downturn in the economy. However, I am confident that this is the right time to go ahead with it now.’
‘ This will be a community building for the whole parish and it’s up to club members to make this a success,’ said Peter Briscoe of St Fechin’s LGFC.
Lip Sync Battles Ireland manager, Cecil Carter detailed the running order, with weeks of preparation in singing, dancing, choreography and stage performance ideas, as well as fundraising tips. ‘Ideally there will be 12-15 groups taking part, with judges and compere there on the night making it an excellent event.’
Fundraising ideas are already being dreamed up – as are some mad outfits and acts! ‘ There can be nobody on the sidelines for this show!’ quipped John McEvoy.
