Dreadnots remain top

DREADNOTS 3-15 GERALDINES 0-11 DREADNOTS remain top of the Division 1 table after an impressive first half display set them on their way to victory over Geraldines at Haggardsto­wn.

After the first two points had been shared, the Dreadnots struck the first goal of the game on seven minutes through Richard Kirwan. Although scores from Shane O’Hanlon and Shane Thornton helped level the game, the Clogherhea­d men then struck six in succession to lead by 1-7 to 0-4 after 23 minutes.

It got even worse for the Gers as just before the break the conceded a second goal to Pepe Smith to trail by 2-9 to 0-5 at half time.

With James Califf among the scorers, Dreadnots kicked three of the first four points of the second half to increase the lead. Although Jim McEneaney replied with two points, the visitors then claimed their third goal of the game through Cian McEvoy to lead by 3-13 to 0-7 after 45 minutes.

There was no way back for the Geraldines after that and the remainder of the provided very little in the way of entertainm­ent as the league leaders cruised to yet another win.
