St Kevins have a point to spare

-

ST KEVINS 1-10 NH MAIRTIN 0-12 ST Kevins consolidated their position in the play-off places with a narrow victory over Nh Mairtin on Friday night.

A Lee Crosbie goal from a second half penalty proved decisive as the Philipstown men prevailed by a single point.

The Kevins played their best football in the opening half and with the help of scores from Thomas Gregory, Karl Martin and Aidan Craven, they led by 0-9 to 0-7 at the break.

The Mairtins upped their game in the second period and kicked some good points to get back into contention, with Conor Whelan, Nicky McDonnell and Paddy Usher among those on target.

The game remained in the balance but Crosbie’s goal and a point from Cian Callan saw the Junior champions see off a Mairtins side who were unlucky to see two late efforts come back off the woodwork.
