ST PATRICK’S NA FIANNA 5-9 2-16

SHANE LANDY hit an injury time goal to give St Patrick’s victory in the A League at Stamullen last Sunday.

There was little to choose between the teams for most of the way in this high scoring encounter with the goals proving crucial for the home side.

A goal late in the half from the fist of Diarmuid Quinn left the hosts leading 1-5 to 0-7 at half-time. Substitute Niall Whearty found the net shortly after coming on and Niall Mooney and Landy, who finished with 2-3, also raised green flags.

The game was deep into added time when Landy stuck with his second goal to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. RATHKENNY 0-17 BLACKHALL GAELS 3-3

WITH Caolach Halligan accounting for seven points Rathkenny secured a vital win in their fight against relegation at Kilcloon last Sunday.

Blackhall lost county player Donnacha Tobin with a thumb injury which could leave him doubtful for this Saturday’s All-Ireland qualifier against Donegal.

Despite the concession of two goals Rathkenny led by two points at the break with Halligan, Jack Gore and Jack Thompson prominent in the scoring.

The visitors doubled their lead within three minutes of the restart following further points from Gore and Halligan.

A third goal brought the home side back into it but Rathkenny finished strongest with points from Sean Mongey, Halligan and Gore.

WOLFE TONES 3-18 SENESCHALSTOWN 0-9

SENESCHALSTOWN hopes of avoiding relegation from the top flight all but disappeared as they slumped to a heavy defeat in Fr Tully Park last Sunday.

Wolfe Tones on the other hand took a major step towards the division one final and they had the game wrapped up when leading 3-7 to 0-3 at the break.

Cian Ward, Niall O’Reilly and Mark Coleman hit the Tones goals in the opening half.

The home side faced an exercise in damage limitation for the second half, something which they feel they achieved as the Tones failed to add to their goals tally.

Next up for Seneschalstown is a game against Gaeil Colmcille in which a victory may not even be enough to stave off relegation.
