Homeless Aid golf classic
THE very popular annual Golf Classic in aid of Drogheda Homeless Aid took place last Friday in the County Louth Golf Club in Baltray.
This is the 15th year of the event and is always very well supported by the community in Drogheda and the surrounding environment.
The Golf Class is one of the most important events in the charity’s calender as it is the third biggest fundraiser for the organisation.
Commenting on the event, Maureen Ward, Manager stated: ‘I want to extend huge thanks to all teams and sponsors of Drogheda Homeless Aid Golf Classic, making it one of the most successful to date, as it is envisaged that event will have raised over €12,000 to help address homelessness in Louth and Meath.
‘ The generosity also of local businesses this year was overwhelming, as so many provided financial support as well as a range of spot prizes helping to make the classic such a success. Particular note needs to be given to the main sponsor, Drogheda Credit Union and also to Ocorian, charity partner for the event. Ocorian, a Dublin-based, investment fund business sponsored eight teams in participating in the classic.’
Mayor Pio Smith took time out from his busy schedule to present winning teams with their prizes.
The 2017 winning teams were captained by: 1st Olive Morgan (sponsor- Champion Lettings); 2nd Michael Cluskey (sponsor: Orange Skip Hire) 3rd Val Smyth.
