Trim hosts special weekend of music

DROGHEDA ORCHESTRAL COLLECTIVE TO PLAY LEADING ROLE IN SHOW

THIS July, a special gig is organised in front of King Johns Castle in Trim to raise money for the Sean Lawlor Foundation and local groups.

King Johns Summer Prom takes places on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of July 2017 from 8pm.

A state of the art stage will be built along with an outdoor arena and seated area. The wonderful Drogheda Orchestral Collective will be backing some of the best talent the country has to offer. The event will be MC’d by Theresa Lowe (former RTE television and radio presenter)

The event will be opened on Friday 21st by local multi award winning singer/ songwriter Kathy Crinion along with one of the idols from RTE and Irish TV, musician/ composer/conductor Frank McNamara.

The orchestra will play a number of themes such as the medleys from James Bond, Lawrence of Arabia, Dances with Wolves, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Les Mis along with many more. There will be lots of actors from the big stage and small screen along with members from the original film Braveheart.

On Saturday 22nd there will be wonderful performanc­es from Maria Butterly, Mick Hanrahan, Leslie Dowdall, Brian Furlong, The Girl Talk, Kern and king of the loft Don Baker with special guest Patrick Bergin (star of Sleeping with the Enemy)

Monies raised from the event will be split up as follows –

– Sean Lawlor Foundation (establishe­d to support Irish based profession­al artists diagnosed with a life threatenin­g illness. Sean passed away on October 10th 2009 after a short battle with cancer.)

– Boardsmill GAA , New dressing room fund

– All other money will stay in the parish and will go to local clubs/organsiati­ons/ charities like Red Cross, Meath River Rescue, Meals- On-Wheels ect.

Soprano Amie Dyer will be one of the highlights of the shows, while other locals include Barry Leahy, Guitar, and the combined chorus from the Sonata Singers & Drogheda Male Voice Choir.
