Cuchulainn pair achieve target with World medals

SUMMER started on the other side of the world for CúChulainn Archers members John Keenan, Éamonn Rogers and Deirdre Rogers as they competed for Ireland at the World Masters Games in Auckland, New Zealand.

Keenan, competing in both World Archery Field and Internatio­nal Field Archery Associatio­n events, brought home two bronze medals, while Éamonn Rogers won bronze in the Indoor 25m/18m where both he and John set two new Irish records - subject to verificati­on.

Back at home, members Michelle Williams, Brandon Dollard, Fiachra Judge, Christina O’Sullivan, Adria Quinn and John Dollard travelled to Belfast for the first leg of the Irish Series, where all six gained valuable points.

Next up was the Irish Open Field Championsh­ips, hosted by Wicklow Archers in Dargle Valley, where Fiachra Judge won the Masters category.

Four members of the club - Fiachra Judge, Adria Quinn, Christina O’Sullivan and Brandon Dollard - competed with great success in Banbridge Archery Club’s Castle Shoot, which was a combinatio­n of marked and unmarked distances, and which took place in the beautiful grounds of Gifford Castle.

Fiachra won silver in the Masters category, Adria and Christina took silver and bronze in the Senior Women’s category and Brandon took gold in the Cadet Male category.

Seven members travelled to Blanchards­town for the second leg of the Irish Series, again gaining points towards the finals.
