Thieves in raid on community garden

- By HUBERT MURPHY

HEARTLESS THIEVES struck at the village garden in Julianstown last week, breaking into a locked container on site and making off with

a hedge trimmer and a grass strimmer.

They, or someone else, also stole about a dozen plants of various types growing in the garden - some having been dug up while others were growing in pots.

This is the second time recently that garden equipment has been stolen from the container and plants from the garden itself.

Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around the garden last week or who has any information about the thefts should please contact the Gardai in Laytown or any member of the Julianstown and District Community Association (JDCA) tidy towns committee.

However, it is impossible to keep the group down and they are well advanced in planning for the Heritage Day will take place on Saturday 26th August in the Village Garden.

Julianstown Tidy Towns invite you to come and visit the garden and there will be plenty of people on hand to show you around. Light refreshments will be served.

The famous Coole Swan Liqueur are sponsoring a ‘Coole Swan Afternoon Tea’ for Julianstown Tidy Towns on the afternoon of Friday 1st September. If you have any unwanted gifts, perhaps you could bring them along for the raffle on the day. Again, funds raised will go towards the cost of replacing items stolen from the container.
