FAREWELL TO FR. AIDAN.

Following the Vigil Mass in the Church of the Immculate Conception on Saturday August 5th, a special gathering took place in Scoil Naomh Feichin to pay tribute to Fr. Aidan Murphy who has been Parish Priest for the last 10 years and is leaving to go on Sabatical in the U.S.A. Fr. Aidan came to Termonfeckin in 2007 and during his time here he celebrated the Silver Jubilee of his Ordination. Major renovation work on the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Parochial House was undertaken during his Ministry and also the setting up of the Parish Pastoral Council. A Presentation was made to Fr. Aidan on behalf of the Parishioners. Compliments are certainly due to the organisers of the evening who provided mouthwatering refreshments. It was a most enjoyable evening but no doubt he will be missed.

On August 17th, Fr. Aidan will fly to San Francisco and will then spend almost a year at a Jesuit College in Berkley, California. Will he come back to Termonfeckin as Parish Priest? No one knows and as he says himself, that decision rests with Archbishop Eamon Martin.

Fr. Aidan, we wish you a very safe journey, the best of luck on your sabatical and hopefully we will see you again. Meanwhile we welcome Nigerian Native Fr. Emmanuel Abuh who arrives in Termonfeckin Parish this Saturday August 19th. Fr. Emmanuel will be in our Parish for only two weeks after which he returns to Nigeria. Following his departure, Fr. Stephen Duffy will take charge having been appointed as Administrator for the Parish. Claire Mc Glew. Winners of €20 were Eamonn Reynolds, Mary Carron, G. Higgins, Aidan and Blaithnaid Quinn and Kearney Family, Baltray. The jackpot this week is worth €6,500.
