GROUP HAVE BEEN HELPING LOCAL COMMUNITY FOR OVER 26 YEARS

-

THE East Meath Hospice Group will hold their annual Coffee Morning on Thursday September 14th.

The event will take place in four areas of East Meath; Laytown and Bettystown Golf Club, The Lime Kiln in Julianstown, Whyte’s Bar and Restaurant in Stamullen and Bellewstown Parish Rooms hosted by Linda Donnelly.

The coffee morning will run from 10am to 12pm in each location.

2017 is a special year for the National Hospice Association as it marks the 25th year of the very first coffee morning. The East Meath Organisation is marking its 26th anniversary this year.

‘We’re a voluntary group and our aim is to provide help to people with a diagnosis of cancer,’ said a spokesperson for the group. ‘ Our main service is providing transport and from hospital appointments and our drivers are all volunteers. We also have a comfort fund which enables us to give some financial support to families when needed.’

In addition, the association can also provide free of charge beds and equipment which may not be immediately available from the HSE.

‘All the moneys raised through the local coffee mornings will be spent locally and there will also be lots of raffles on the day for those in attendance.’

The spokesperson said committee members will be happy to answer any questions people may have on the day.

‘We’ve always been very well supported by the community in East Meath and we have no doubt that will continue this year. If anyone would like to host a coffee morning in their own house you can contact the group on 087-2100036 and we can supply the coffee thanks to Bewleys. Every cup counts,’ she added.

The national launch of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice took place recently in Harold’s Cross.
