TEDxDrogheda returns for second year
THE second annual TEDxDrogheda event has been officially launched under the theme ‘Private Lives’ and is looking for speakers for the upcoming event.;
The event will be hosted in the Droichead Arts Centre on November 3rd and will provide a broad interpretation of the theme ‘identity’ with presentations by the likes of entrepreneurs, historians and academics.
A call out for speakers is currently taking place on TEDxDrogheda website: http://tedxdrogheda.com/ - the deadline for submissions is September 30th.
The organising committee consists of Anna Kurtisa – administrator at The Mill Enterprise Hub, Orlaith Carmody – former RTE news reporter and Managing Director of Mediatraining.ie and Seán Ó Cearrúlláin – director of Sky High Productions.
‘We are interested in asking whether the concept of Identity is related to personality or whether it is influenced by something much broader such as money, culture, technology, art and fashion,’ explained Orlaith Carmody.
TEDxDrogheda represents a broad range of fields including technology, the arts, education, youth programmes, business and not-for-profit organisations.
‘Our common aim is to reach a diverse cross-section of our community and ensure a truly inspirational set of topics and talks,’ said Graham O’Rourke.
Because TEDx events are intentionally small, designed to be intimate events that provoke discussion and promote connection, the seating at TEDxDrogheda will be limited to 100. ‘We are seeking an audience representing the broadest possible range of the community, including local residents and other members of the general public who are inspired by ideas and interested in connecting with others who share the same passion for knowledge,’ said Anna Kurtisa.
Tickets will go on sale this month, priced at €30 for a Standard Ticket, and €15 for a Concession Ticket (students, unemployed, and senior members 65+). For more information, please visit http://tedxdrogheda.com/ or follow @ TEDxDrogheda on Facebook and Twitter for instant updates.
