COMMUNITY Historian, Brendan Matthews in associatio­n with the Old Drogheda Society will deliver a six-week Local History Course titled “Know Your Drogheda” at the Drogheda Museum Millmount.

Starting on Thursday evening November 2nd and ending on Thursday December 7th, the course will run for just over onehour each week from 7.45 to 9pm and is designed for anyone interested in the town`s past and would be deemed ideal for both adults and students and also for those who may be already employed in the tourism/ hospitalit­y sector in the north-east region.

The aim of this six-week course is to introduce the participan­ts to the historical sites & monuments within the town of Drogheda and to outline the historical timeline of events, its streetscap­e, buildings and people that have shaped its storied past from the first settlers along

the great River Boyne to the foundation­s of the medieval town and from the Industrial mills & factories of the 19th century to the emergence of an expanding town in the 21st century.

Course fee is €60, payable on the first evening.
