It’s all smiles at the latest DIFE graduation day at the TLT
IT was a full house once again at the T.LT. Theatre on Friday afternoon where graduation took place for the student block of Drogheda Institute of Further Education of 2016/17.
QQI Awards were presented for Level 5 and Level 6 Certificates. Certificates and Diplomas were also awarded from IATA/UFTAA, City & Guilds of London, CIBTAC, ITEC and IAOT.
Drogheda Credit Union continued their long association with DIFE by again generously sponsoring the event.
The awards on the afternoon covered a wide variety of areas ranging from Culinary Arts, Art & Design to Business and Pre University Courses in Arts, Law, and Science, From Construction Studies to Beauty Therapy, Sport & Leisure, Nursing, Childcare and Applied Social Studies, Healthcare Support, Diploma in Dental Nursing and Pharmacy Technician,
Mr. Davy McDonnell, Principal, directed the proceedings, assisted by Ms. Pauline Sheeran. The attendance included his Worship the Mayor of Drogheda Cllr. Pio Smith, and Director of Further Education and Training for LMETB Ms. Sadie Ward Mc Dermott.
Also in attendance were Mr. Paul Brassil representing the Drogheda Credit Union, sponsors of the event and the chair of the board of management in DIFE, Cllr. Oliver Tully.
In presenting the Awards Mayor Smith praised the students for their hard work, their families for their support and encouragement, and their teachers who empowered them to successfully complete their courses. He also emphasized the value of their qualifications in progressing to third level or in joining the workforce.
Mr. Paul Brassil, President of the Drogheda Credit Union, in presenting the Course Student of the Year Awards commended the students on their focus and efforts over the academic year and praised the role of the College in equipping students for the modern work place.
Ms. Sadie Ward Mc Dermott of LMETB in congratulating all the graduates outlined the important role played by Drogheda Institute of Further Education and its dedicated staff in providing education and training that is a springboard for people of all ages to progress to further study or into the workplace.
The evening concluded with the presenting of Beauty & Holistic Therapies Year 2 graduate Christine Kinsella of Mell, Drogheda with DIFE overall Student of the Year Award.
