Original taps from brewery up for grabs

THERE is something of a special items auction at the Glebe House, Dowth on Sunday 12th November at 12 noon starting time.

It can be viewed on Friday, Nov 10 from 10-5pm and Nov 11th, 11-5pm.

Also as part of this high class auction, some of the goods auctioned will be for the Gary Kelly cancer care centre in Drogheda. Rarities in the auction include original hand painted image of the Reichstag. The term Reichstag dates back to the holy Roman emperor and the estimate on that is €1000 to €1200.

There is also a parchment letter from the governor of Texas to the president of the United States in 1845, estimate €300 to €400.

Original picture of John Boyle O’Reilly, large quantity of old pitch pine church pewes, large brass 19th century crucifixes and Edwardian oak secretary book case formally owned by the late Ben Briscoe, former Lord Mayor of Dublin given as a gift to his loyal worker Rita Bannon. There is also a genuine letter from Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.

Other items include an original turnstile from Lansdowne Road, original taps from Cairnes Brewery, Drogheda (pictured) and a collection of vintage theatrical clothing.

Total of 700 lots all to be sold.
