The highlight of the day came at the end of the day when Scoil Naomh Phóil, St. Paul’s N. S., Walshestown was awarded the Tom Connolly Memorial Shield for “Most Sporting School” by the wife of the late Garda Tom Connolly and Superintendent Andrew Watters.
The children were delighted to accept this award as were their very proud teachers, Mr. Quaile and Mrs. Connaughton.
The journey back home to Walshestown was a very happy one with an evening off homework adding to the celebrations.
