PRIDE OF PLACE, WINNERS ALRIGHT!

The Laytown-Bettystown Municipal District Pride of Place Awards night in The Conyngham Arms Hotel, Slane last Thursday night saw a number of Slane based organisations take home most of the spoils, and deservedly so.

Abbey View, Crann Doire Breagh, Marian Terrace, Church-lands, Ledwidge Museum, Slane Hub and Slane Tidy Towns were all in the winners enclosure on the night. The massive effort that is on-going in Slane for some years now has been recognised. There is always a presence of work being done on the ground.

That’s the strength of Volunteers, actions speak louder than words! Congratulations and well done from your neighbours down the road in Broomfield and District. Slane Tidy Towns will represent Meath in the up-coming Co-Operation Ireland Pride of Place Awards.

They are entered in the Population - 1000 - 2000 Category of these All Ireland Awards, the results will be announced at the awards ceremony in Letterkenny, Donegal on Saturday 2nd December. Best of luck to all involved. Go n-eiri an bothar libh!

BROOMFIELD AND DISTRICT TAKES AWARD

Broomfield and District Residents Association took the Heritage Award at the Pride of Place Awards last Thursday night, and €400, which is greatly appreciated.

This is in recognition of an area that is steeped in heritage and culture. Preserving, protecting and presenting the heritage and culture of the District has been one of the aspects of the work of Broomfield and District Residents Association since it’s inception.

As one of the captions on a Pride of Place popup on display said; ‘Creating Communities for tomorrow while respecting the heritage and culture of the past’, That’s what it’s all about. The County Awards will be held in The Solstice Arts Centre, Navan on Thursday 9th November 2017. Looking forward to it.
