TENNIS CLUB

The Termonfeck­in Tennis Club Senior Championsh­ip took place at the Club in September. Well done to all who participat­ed and congratula­tions to the winners. The Club would like to thank the following sponsors, North East Marquees, Jaffa on the Grian, Pro Wealth, AmerAvia, Gareths Butchers and Card connection­s. Thanks also to Dodo Cakes for providing delicious refreshmen­ts.

The winners and runners up were presented with their cups and prizes at the Club’s annual Table Quiz in Seapoint Golf club last Thursday night, October 19th. Ladies Singles: Winner – Ann Bellew, Runner up – Frances Gargan. Mens Singles: Winner - Anthony Bellew, Runner up – Derek Holcroft. Ladies Doubles: Winners – Frances Gargan and Geraldine Foran, Runner up – Ann Bellew and Carmel Anne Mooney. Mens Doubles: Winners – Anthony Bellew and Niall Gallen, Runner up – Paul McKiernan and Paddy Molloy. Mixed Doubles: Winners – Ann and Anthony Bellew, Runner up – Frances Gargan and Paul McKiernan.

The Table Quiz was well attended despite the weather and a very enjoyable night was had by all. Congratula­tions to the winners Tom Martin, Peter McNulty, Mark Crilly and Kieren Murphy.

The club would like to thank everyone who came, Seapoint Golf club for their hospitalit­y, Andrea and Pat for organising the questions and the following who sponsored the raffle, Holcroft Motors, Gareths Butchers, Forge Field Café, Forge Field Farm Shop, Listoke Gin, Card Connection, Riva Restaurant, Design Gallery and Niall Gallen.

ST. FECHIN’S EVENTS.

A 5-aside Tournament will take place on the all-weather pitches at St Feichin’s GAA club, Beaulieu on the weekend of November 18th and 19th in aid of Termonfeck­in’s new Community Centre. The entry fee is €100 and the top prize for the winning team is €1,000. The Runner-Up team receives €500. The tournament is limited to 40 teams and already there is strong interest in signing up. Teams should comprise of 5 players and 2 subs. A Parish Auction will take place in early December in aid of the Lip Synch Battle which takes place in City North Hotel over the Christmas holidays. ST. FECHINS LOTTO.

The numbers drawn were 5, 7, 16 and 21. There was no jackpot winner. The €100 winner was Michael Sarsfield. Winners of €20 were Tommy Duff, Marie Lennon, Gerry Monaghan, Marty c/o 19th Baltray and Maeve Callanan. The jackpot this week is worth €1,500 and is sponsored by Madden’s Centra, Termonfeck­in.

LOUTH GAA AWARD

. The Louth GAA Annual Awards Night takes place this Friday November 3rd in the Four Seasons Hotel in Carlingfor­d. Already the recipients of the 2017 Awards are known and St. Fechins will receive two awards on the night. Congratula­tions to Patrick Lynch who will receive the 2017 Senior Hurling Player of the Year award and Bevan Duffy who will receive the 2017 Senior Football Player of the Year award.

SET DANCING

Set Dancing takes place in Sandpit Hall on Thursday nights at 8.30pm. Plenty of enjoyment guaranteed and as well as learning the steps, it helps with keeping fit.

COFFEE MORNING

A date for your diary. The Termonfeck­in Parish Pastoral Council will hold a Coffee Morning on Sunday December 10th in the Credit Union Offices. Proceeds are in aid of the Ferrard Day Centre. More details in due course.

SEAPOINT PITCH & PUTT

Seapoint members were deeply saddened upon hearing the news that their friend and longtime member Tommy Murray passed away suddenly. Their thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace. Week 4 of the Turkey Competitio­n, an 18 Gross, produced some good scores in spite of Storm Brian sweeping up the East Coast. The results are as follows. Senior-1st: Michael Bedford 45 (ob9 23), 2nd: Gerry Breen Jnr. 45. Whiskey Winner: Darren Fagan 44. Inter-1st: Frank Penders 48, 2nd: John Curran 49. Junior-1st: Ray McEvoy 50, 2nd: John Kelleher 51. Ladies-1st: Lilly Fallon 53, 2nd: Margaret McCabe 55 (ob9 24). The competitio­n over the weekend was Week 5 of the Turkeys and was an 18 Nett. Also over the weekend there was a Fourball Vpar held on Bank Holiday Monday.

ADORATION

Eucharisti­c Adoration takes place on Monday evenings from 7-8pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Why not come and spend some quiet time in the presence of the Lord.

WHIST

Whist is held on Sunday nights at 8.30pm in Sandpit Hall. If you are a regular player or would like to learn how to play Whist, why not come along? All are welcome.

PARISH NEWS

The next Confirming our Faith Mass will be on Saturday the 11th of November at 7.30pm.

Mass for Prisoners (Prisoners’ Sunday) will be celebrated on Sunday the 12th of November at 11 am. Families and friends of prisoners are invited to this Mass. We remember too those who are imprisoned because of sickness and addiction. All are welcome

If you wish to become an altar society member, a Minister of the Word & of Holy Communion contact Sandra in the sacristy. In November we are called to be Families of Hope as we remember our beloved dead. There are many different ways we can pray for our loved ones with family members in our church 2.30pm. Rosary is said daily in the cemetery throughout November, writing our List of the Dead. Let us give witness as a Family of Hope in the Lord’s promise of eternal life.

Family Prayer intention box for the World Meeting of Families is now in the sanctuary of the church. Fill in a petition slip at the door of the church and place into the basket. Mass for All Saints is on Tuesday 31st of October at 7.30pm & Wednesday 1st of November at 7.30pm.

Mass of Remembranc­e and for Holy Souls will take place on Thursday the 2nd of November at 7.30pm. Lists of the Dead sheets & envelopes now available at Church Door. A novena of Masses, All Souls day, the Fridays of November & First Fridays of each month.

MEN’S SHED

The Men’s Shed Tullyallen meet up every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10am till 1.00pm. This is open to all men in the Parish and surroundin­g areas. Everyone has something to offer the Shed they would be delighted to get new members on board. They are currently in process of obtaining a site for their workshop.

SLIMMING WORLD TIMES

Slimming World have two classes each week on Thursdays. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm. Why not head on down to the Glen Emmets Clubrooms and get on the right track.

THE BRICKX CLUB

Great news for all the lego kids out there. There is a Brickx club in Starinagh, Collon every Thursday from 5 till 6. This is aimed at kids between 4 and 12 who love being creative with their brick building. Why not give Theresa a call on 086 3212986 to for further details.

LOTTO RESULTS

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held Tuesday 24th October 2017. The Grand Prize Draw for €10,000 was held and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were 6, 8, 11 & 27.
