Meetings on how to upgrade energy in premises
IN 2016 and 2017, 150 people throughout Mid Louth benefited from upgrading of their homes, community centres and business making them more efficient in energy use, warmer, reducing energy costs and availing of the option of using more renewable energy solutions.
For both years significant grants were provided under the Better Energy Communities programme from The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and the programme in Mid Louth was managed by the Dunleer Community Development Board. The total investment has been €1.2M, and these interventions have made energy savings of 3.6 million Kilowatts.
The board is planning an application for funding for an expanded programme for 2018. They are holding a series of public meetings throughout the county to inform householders, community groups and business about what is available in funding and how communities can work together to avail of significant grants to upgrade homes, community centres and business premises.
