Bernard English Goldsmith celebrates 40 years in business
THE family jewellers was started by Bernard himself back in 1977 when he saw an opportunity to open a retail business in Drogheda having served his apprenticeship in Dublin with Hopkins & Hopkins and worked with some of the country’s top jeweller’s in the capital city.
He opened his first local jewellery shop in the Abbey Shopping Centre before he and his wide Gabrielle made the move to 38 West Street in 1986.
The company moved to its modern, bright new premises at 12 Shop Street,Drogheda where Bernard English Goldsmiths are solely based in March 2016 and the move has proven to be hugely beneficial to business.
Bernard and Bob who are qualified goldsmiths manufacture their own range of jewellery including diamond engagement rings and wedding rings. The goldsmiths specialise in bespoke pieces using traditional methods and craftmanship whilst keeping abreast of modern technology and changing tastes.
The on-site workshop is a huge benefit to the store where it carries out jewellery repairs, ring cleaning, valuations and consultations.
The shop also carries a wide range of top leading watch and jewellery brands including Daniel Wellington, Paul Hewitt, Chrysalis, Bering, Seiko and Citizen.
