City North raises €800 for cancer

City North Christmas fair day

€800 was raised for the oncology unit of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

City North Hotel, Gormanston, hosted a coffee morning on Tuesday 24th October, to help raise funds for the Northeast Cancer Research and Educations Trust, who support the Oncology Unit in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

‘We are very grateful to the City North Hotel for hosting this event in their splendid ballroom which was specially decorated for the occasion. This coffee morning had something for everyone. Delicious pastries,and scones, teas and coffees. There was live music by Gerry Hodgers and Cathal Garvey. Magic Memories, Children’s entertaine­rs, were there to entertain the young,’ a spokespers­on stated.

Boots beauty consultant­s had makeovers and advice. There were also 18 Craft stands and the 130 plus people who attended the event

thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

‘We thank everyone for supporting this valuable event, as we continue to strive to eliminate cancer. A total of €800.00 was raised for the Oncology unit,’ they added. session with audience participat­ion with GAA Legends past and present, which will be hosted by Sean Perry.

Later that evening all the Movember participan­ts will take part in a shave off. Southgate barbers will do the honours.

Music on the night by Irish trad band ‘ The Mudd Guards’ followed late into the night buren Dj Niall Bennett. Finger food for all the guests and a raffle will be held also.

The event is in the d Hotel on Saturday November 25 and doors are at 7.30pm. Admission is €10 on the door.

City North Hotel & Conference Centre will hold a Christmas Fair on Sunday 17th of December from 2-6pm.There will be mulled wine and mince pies, artisan foods, lots of crafts stands with lovely stocking-filler ideas and carol singing. Admission is free so why not come along and enjoy the day!
