-

DUNLEER AC had plenty to shout about at the Louth Masters Cross-Country Championships on Sunday as they claimed the individual and team honours over a tough 3km course in Togher.

Karen Costello got over the line first and she was followed in second place by clubmate Nicola Welsh. With Nicola Courtney and Sandra Doheny packing well in behind them, the team honours also went to Dunleer, add to the senior team title they won last month.

There was also a bronze individual medal for Tommy Shields who finished third in the Over-60 category.

Meanwhile, the Dunleer AC men opted to star on the road last Saturday in the Jingle Bells 5k race in Phoenix Park.

Louth senior champion Garry Campbell finished in third place in an awesome 14:31.58, with 18-year-old Diarmuid Mc Keown 14th overall in 15:22.58 which wasa a PB for that young athlete. Pat Fitzpatrick and Anthony Connolly also had PBs with 16:49.89 and 16:59.24 respectively.

Mark Carroll matched his PB with 18:25.15, while Pat Cheshire - who had a recent PB over the half-marathon distance with 1hr 42min, ran his quickest 5k this year in 20:59.
