PANSY MORGAN, RIP

The sincere sympathy of Broomfield and District Residents Association and the Community of Broomfield and District is extended to the Morgan and extended Morgan Family, Neighbours, and large circle of Friends, on the passing of Frances (Pansy) Morgan, Broomfield recently.

In her 90th year, Pansy was highly respected by, and a valued friend to many. This was succinctly captured by one of her former neighbours at Pansy’s Funeral when she said, ‘Whatever Pansy could do to lighten your load, she would never add to it’, and all who knew her would agree. A fitting Guard of Honour was provided by Neighbours and Friends on Pansy’s final journey from the Church of Mary Immaculate, Collon to the New Cemetery, Collon on Sunday week last. Ar Dheis De go raibh a h-anam dilis!

PADDY WARD, RIP

The sincere sympathy of Broomfield and District Residents Association and the Community of Broomfield and District is extended to the Ward and extended Ward Family, Neighbours, and Friends, on the passing of Paddy Ward, Main Street, Collon recently.

In his 103rd year, Paddy was born in 1915 and grew up in a time of historical significance, a fact that was not lost on him. Paddy was regarded as a wise and knowledgeable man, who could turn his hand to anything. He highly valued education and training, taking courses and examinations through The City and Guilds of London Institute long before these courses became popular in this country.

A massive link with the past has been broken with Paddy’s passing, but those who knew him are all the better for it. Paddy was a great supporter of local Club Mattock Rangers, who provided a fitting Guard of Honour from his residence to The Church of Mary Immaculate, Collon on Tuesday evening and again on Wednesday to the New Cemetery, Collon. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam dilis!

COMMUNITY ALERT

It’s that time of year again, short daylight hours and long dark evenings and nights. Please call on elderly relatives and neighbours, especially those living alone. See that they have all their needs, food, heat, light and fuel for fires and anything else that they may need. It is often difficult for the elderly to get out and about to get shopping at this time of year, you may be able to help out in this regard. Also, please make sure that all Personal Socially Monitored Alarms are working as required. You can check out their operation by pressing the pendant button, when you should get a response from personnel in the Monitoring Station within seconds. It’s also time to make sure that Security Lighting is working correctly. Please make Community Alert a priority in the months ahead and beyond.
