An Grianan will be buzzing as set dancing fans from around world arrive for Termonfeckin weekend

-

IT might be the Fleadh or just the reputation, but the 2018 Termonfeckin Set Dancing Weekend has created more interest than ever.

It runs from January 26-28th at An Grianan and already people have booked in from the USA, France, Italy, Germany, Manchester and all over Ireland.

For John McEvoy, it makes the organisation of the weekend well worth the effort.

‘ There is definately an extra interest, maybe with the Fleadh coming to Drogheda,’ he stated.

Everyone is welcome to come along for the weekend to check out the tunes and the dancing with sessions taking place every day.

The weekend kicks off with the launch at 7.30pm on Friday January 26, followed by a ceili with Triskell Ceili Band at 9pm.

On Saturday, there’s workshops and sessions and another ceili with Donnie Nolan and Taylor’s Cross band at 9pm.

On Sunday, the weekend wraps with a ceili provided by the Dartry band from Sligo, former All-Ireland champions. It runs from 2-5pm.

There will be set dancing of course, but also old time step dance, sean nos, beginners tin whistle, singing, flute, etc.

Further details can be had from termonfeckinsetdancing@gmail.com.

‘It will be a great chance for people from the area to see the best of dance, music and song,’ John added.
