Special performance from pianist Korobeinikov
Following a sold-out concert with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in December, Drogheda will welcome Cellist Johannes Moses and Pianist Andrei Korobeinikov to town for a special performance at the end of this month. The next concert in the Drogheda Classical Music series will take place in St Peter’s Church of Ireland on Friday 26 January at 7:30pm. Described as ‘one of the finest among the astonishing gallery of young virtuoso cellists’, German/Canadian Johannes Moser will be joined by Russian pianist, Andrei Korobeinikov for a programme of romantic and exciting works by Rachmaninov and Prokofiev. Johannes Moser has performed with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors.
He is much in demand as a soloist across the world and so it is a privilege and treat that he will perform exclusively in Drogheda – they are not performing elsewhere in Ireland this year. Andrei Korobeinikov could be described as a child prodigy, having given his first public performance aged eight and continuing with a successful career as soloist and chamber musician, working with many of the great orchestras, conductors and musicians.
This concert will feature all Russian music in works by two giants of classical music, Rachmaninov and Prokofiev. The music of Rachmaninov is notoriously difficult to play, as the composer himself had enormous hands and therefore wrote music that reflected this. It will be a special occasion to see and hear a Russian playing these works on the beautiful Steinway Piano in St Peter’s Church of Ireland. The music is romantic, with gorgeous melodies and plenty of excitement. This is a concert to shake off the January blues and excite any lovers of music.
Don’t miss it.
