Pitch & Putt club praised for new school backing

-

A LOCAL Pitch & Putt club has been praised for its part in the ongoing project to provide a new special school campus on the Cement Road.

Councillor Paul Bell confirmed that Louth County Council’s commitment to acquire lands on the Cement Road for the construction of a special needs school for the students of St Ita’s Drogheda and St Mary’s Drumcar is progressing in a very speedy manner.

“I am pleased to confirm that negotiations to purchase the 4.5 acre site are at the stage of due diligence with the expectation that the lands will be formally signed over to Council by the end of February 2018. Upon completion the project will enter into the zoning and planning stage. There is huge excitement amongst the children and parents of both schools and I really am looking forward to moving the project on.’

Bell also complimented the local pitch and putt club for their support. “I would on a personal basis extend my sincerest thanks to the Irish Cement Pitch and Putt Club committee and members for their support of the project. The Club has played a vital role in ensuring that the project becomes a reality to help many of our community’s most vulnerable children.

‘I would also like to again sincerely thank the Cement Roadstone Holdings and in particular the local members of the management team for their energy in pushing this most deserving project forward.’
