Local scholars gain DCU scholarshi­ps

NINE Louth students have been awarded academic scholarshi­ps by Dublin City University in recognitio­n of achieving more than 550 points in their Leaving Certificat­e.

The following students were presented with their academic scholarshi­ps.

•Áine Reilly, a former student of St Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk and currently a first year student in Actuarial Mathematic­s at DCU.

•Bartlomiej Baran, a former student of St Mary’s College, Dundalk and currently a first year student in Electronic and Computer Engineerin­g at DCU.

•Daniel O’Boyle, a former student of Dundalk Grammar School, Dundalk and a first year student in Data Science.

•Emma McArdle, a former student of St Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk and a first year student in Actuarial Mathematic­s.

•Fiona Sharkey, a former student of Our Lady’s College, Drogheda and a first year Accounting and Finance student at DCU.

•Orla Molloy, a former student of Our Lady’s College, Drogheda and currently a first year student in Physical Education and Mathematic­s at DCU.

•Sarah Englishby, a former student of St Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk and currently a first year student in Physical Education at DCU.

•Shane Towey, a former student of St Mary’s Diocesan School, Drogheda and currently a first year student in Global Business at DCU.

Over €60,000 worth of scholarshi­ps were presented to fresher students at DCU. Awardees were joined at a special presentati­on ceremony at the Helix by their parents and former school principals and teachers. Each student received a commemorat­ive certificat­e and the school principals/ teacher were presented with a plaque to display in the school marking the significan­t achievemen­t of their past pupil.
