Local scholars gain DCU scholarships
NINE Louth students have been awarded academic scholarships by Dublin City University in recognition of achieving more than 550 points in their Leaving Certificate.
The following students were presented with their academic scholarships.
•Áine Reilly, a former student of St Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk and currently a first year student in Actuarial Mathematics at DCU.
•Bartlomiej Baran, a former student of St Mary’s College, Dundalk and currently a first year student in Electronic and Computer Engineering at DCU.
•Daniel O’Boyle, a former student of Dundalk Grammar School, Dundalk and a first year student in Data Science.
•Emma McArdle, a former student of St Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk and a first year student in Actuarial Mathematics.
•Fiona Sharkey, a former student of Our Lady’s College, Drogheda and a first year Accounting and Finance student at DCU.
•Orla Molloy, a former student of Our Lady’s College, Drogheda and currently a first year student in Physical Education and Mathematics at DCU.
•Sarah Englishby, a former student of St Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk and currently a first year student in Physical Education at DCU.
•Shane Towey, a former student of St Mary’s Diocesan School, Drogheda and currently a first year student in Global Business at DCU.
Over €60,000 worth of scholarships were presented to fresher students at DCU. Awardees were joined at a special presentation ceremony at the Helix by their parents and former school principals and teachers. Each student received a commemorative certificate and the school principals/ teacher were presented with a plaque to display in the school marking the significant achievement of their past pupil.
