Paddy looking to keep Lobinstown playground on the council’s agenda

-

CLLR Paddy Meade took to the floor in Navan at the January meeting of Meath County Council to demand a spot on the Council agenda every month from this month until competition of the Lobinstown playground to insure progress of the protect.

Cllr. Meade (right) welcomed the County Manager’s report update on the the project which stated: “Lobinstown Playground - Contractor has been appointed and it is hoped works will commence in the latter half of January.”

However among his complements he gave to management and engineers who had met with himself on multiple occasions regarding the project, he said he was concerned regarding the manager’s use of the work “hoped”.

‘Lobinstown was first told by this council they would receive a playground in the 1990’s but when I myself was a juvenile, however as years went by our hopes fell away and apart, so the word ‘ hoped’ doesn’t stand well with me.

‘However I believe we have a good team working on this though I must ask that we receive monthly updates on this project in the report from this day until the day of completion.’

He also said it was ‘wrong’ that any other member ‘ begrudges or questions’ Lobinstown’s good fortune.

‘Instead they should welcome it as a slight turning point in the council’s approach to representing rural areas, and they should join with me in my thoughts that each and every village in this county like Beauparc and Donore should have one too, for we represent all in this chamber and that includes rural children too,’ he said.
