DUNLEER GOLF SOCIETY

The Society is one of the largest in the North East with some fifty members. The Season starts on the 10th of March with a visit to Seapoint Golf Course.

During the year the Society will also visit Dundalk, Concrawood, Killeen Castle, Laytown/Betty’s Town and an away outing in September to Bunclody.

Stop Food Waste Week takes place from 22nd – 28th January.

Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story, is a multi-award winning documentar­y by Grant Baldwin and Jenny Rustemeyer. It will be screened in venues throughout Ireland this January as part of a food waste awareness week run by the EPA’s Stop Food Waste Programme.

ROADS

in Teach Pothole repairs were carried out throughout the District last week. Meath Co. Council responded quickly to representa­tions they received in respect of this. There’s more work to be done however, and residents look forward to this work being carried out as soon as possible.

TUS VACANCY

A TUS vacancy exists with Broomfield and District Residents Associatio­n. The Work Programme involves Care-taking duties in and around Teach Raithneach, as well as the maintenanc­e and up-keep of a number of amenities throughout the District. If you think you are eligible to participat­e in this Scheme, then please contact the Secretary on 086 3212986 for more informatio­n. Self referral forms are available. These allow you to self-refer to Meath Partnershi­p, the body who have responsibi­lity for implementi­ng the TUS Scheme in this area.

MONASTERBO­ICE TOURISM AND TIDY TOWNS.

Monasterbo­ice Tourism and Tidy Towns would like to congratula­te and thank all from the parish for their wonderful efforts in trying to keep the area as tidy as possible during 2017. As a result of the good work, Monasterbo­ice has won the Super Value Endeavour Award, Louth Looking Good Award, Special Merit Award, Litter League Gold Award, The Small Estate Award and The Shop Front Award.

However. the committee is cognisant of the fact that all progress is like riding a bike, if you stop peddling, you’ll fall off. So, the metaphoric peddling must continue for 2018. Keep up the good work is the message here.

TENURE COMMUNITY’S FIRST RESPONDERS SAYS THANKS.

The above organisati­on would like to sincerely thank The Piperstown Equestrian Centre for it’s kind donation of €2190. The sum was raised from it’s recent Charity Fun Run around the parish. The monies will go towards defibs around the parish. All involved should take a bow.
