SEAN O’MAHONYS ST JOSEPHS 0-10

SEAN O’Mahonys hit three late points through Stephen Fisher and Ben McLaughlin to snatch victory from St Josephs in a well-contested encounter at Darver on Friday evening.

The opening four points of the game were shared before a Jack McNamee point on ten minutes had the Joes in front.

The Dromiskin side extended their lead with two points from Cian McGuinness and although the Dundalk men hit back with a point, the Joes finished the half strongly with further points from Oisin McGuinness and Jack Mulligan to leave their side ahead by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break.

Two points from the O’Mahonys had the margin down to two, however the Joes restored their four point lead with points from Danny O’Brien and Jack Mulligan. The turning point of the game came on 47 minutes when the O’Mahonys turned over a Joes clearance and Stephen Kilcoyne got through for the only goal of the game.

An Alan McKenna free on 48 minutes was the Joes last score of the game and the O’Mahonys edged themselves in front with three unanswered points from McLaughlin 2 and Fisher. Neither side hit the target in the final seven minutes leaving the O’Mahonys winners by a single point.
