January 1968

THE Mayor of Drogheda, Colr. Patrick Carr, will, on Thursday next, officially open the town’s newest business venture, Fay Travel. Based at 40a West Street, its new attractive facade will further modernise this thriving thoroughfare, while the service it will bring will add to the many amenities which Drogheda citizens already enjoy.

During the past few years, trends have shown that Irish people are becoming more and more aware of the attractions of foreign travel. That holiday in the sun, lazing on warm sands, browsing through the stalls in some exotic market square, shopping in “some sophisticated world capital or enjoying the night life in club or casino is something which more people are desiring. Everyone has dreams And everyone wants to turn these dreams into realities.

An energetic and businesslike young man who aims to help people to realise these ambitions is Mr. Joe Fay of the Bull Ring, Drogheda. With two fellow directors, Mr. Charles Walsh, local accountant, and Mr. Donal Kinsella of Dunleer, he has set up this new company, which will operate under the name Fay Travel. In the coming years the company hopes to expand their business by setting up agencies in neighbouring counties.

The plush new premises of Fay Travel will have different reception areas—for air reservations, sea reservations,, continental and cruise holidays. Mr. Fay homself will manage the concern with the help of two clerks, Miss Linda Quigley of Mell and Mr. Tommy Faulkner of Yellowbatter. The agency has already plans in hand for summer and autumn flights. In September they will fly 60 tourists on St. Mary’s Parish first annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, while, in July, they will organise a trip to Majorca.
