MEMBERS of the emergency services - including nurses, rescue crews and the fire service - along with the respective county councils are being praised for their efforts during last week’s snowfall .

Many staff stayed over in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital to ensure the likes of the laboratory, x-ray, catering and maintenance services were maintained as well as general services.

The Drogheda Fire Service also assisted with digging out ambulances from snowdrifts.

But the big winners were delighted children who got three days off school and pictured is Lily Ann Faulkner who was head over heels with exitement during the snow on Thursday.
