Ardee CS students do their bit for SOSAD

ACS students raised €1,101 on Christmas Jumper Day, December 21st 2017.

This event was organised by the ‘Amberflag’ committee. This committee was set up to promote mental health awareness in the school. It is made up of students from all year groups. Eileen Clarke, fifth year is Chairperso­n, Ciara Callis, fifth year is Assistant Chairperso­n and Conor McMahon, fifth year is Secretary. The liaison teacher is Ms. Sarah Crilly.

On the day all students in school were encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper, prizes were awarded to the best jumpers in each year group. It was an enjoyable day as students were happy and getting into the festive spirit.

Everyone contribute­d €2 and the monies collected were given to two charities. €825 was given to ‘Sosad’, an organisati­on helping those dealing with suicide and €275 was given to ‘Strengthen­ing Families’, a charity helping families going through difficult situations.

The cheque was presented to Ms. Carmel Hancock, ‘Sosad’ representa­tive.
