IRISH CANCER SOCIETY

The Irish Cancer Society is looking for volunteers in the Louth, Cavan, Monaghan and Meath areas to drive patients to and from their treatments in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and the Dublin hospitals. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drive them to the door of the hospital and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. Premiere of Duleek Foróige’s Documentar­y “Rememberin­g Childhoods of Times Past”. Over the last number of months teenagers from Duleek Foróige have interviewe­d some seasoned local personalit­ies – Cathy McGrane, Michael Brodigan, Mary Connell, Jim Curley and Jimmy Lynch - to hear about their childhood memories. Join us for the first screening of this hour-long documentar­y on Sunday 11th March from 3pm - 5pm in the Courthouse. Refreshmen­ts will be served - expect to see some traditiona­l desserts and treats from 1940s, 50s & 60s Ireland! This event is free and all are welcome.

IRISH BOOK LAUNCH

Irish Book Launch of Pure Mental by local writer Eamon Shanley takes place at 7pm on Tuesday 27th March 2018 in Duleek Public Library. CUSHINSTOW­N AC NEWS

It was a busy weekend in Abbotstown with Days 2 & 3 of the Leinster Indoor Championsh­ips taking place. There was a packed stadium on the Sunday for the relay races and Cushinstow­n had four teams taking part.

The U12 boys 4 x 100m relay team included Kevin Doyle, Luke McAleese, Jyles Gogan, Eoin McLoughlin and Andrew Gough. The boys all put in great performanc­es especially as they were all competing for the first time on the 200m track in Abbotstown. The U13 girls 4 x 100m relay team of Aoife Rohan, Nia Hederton, Ellen Gough and Isabella Gogan also ran very well. The U14 girls 4 x 200m relay team of Laura Bolster, Aoife Rohan, Isabella Gogan and Ella Barry ran a great race getting through to the finals and finishing in fourth place.
