Ella’s film nominated for national award

-

DROGHEDA filmmaker Ella Murphy has been shortlisted for the title of ‘Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year 2018’ for the second year in a row.

She qualified from the Leinster section of the Fresh Film Awards and her short film ‘Love. Me’ will be aired at the finals day in Limerick on March 22.

A Leaving Cert student in Our Lady’s College in Greenhills, Ella’s film starred fellow student Sonja Belec and centred on how young people can tackle and overcome mental health issues.

Last year, Ella also made it through the very competitive Leinster section, with entries from schools all over the province.

‘ To make it to the National Final for the second time is a real honour for me and I’m delighted the judges were happy with my entry.

‘I think the whole issue of mental health is something that impacts on many young people and it’s good to highlight the many aspects associated with it.’
