€300 donation is ‘an expensive smoke’ got man (21)

‘AN expensive smoke,’ Judge Coughlan noted, as he struck out an unlawful possession of drugs charge against Andrew Kirk (21).

He made that order after the defendant, of Castlegrove, Julianstown, made a €300 donation to charity.

The offence occurred at Wheaton Hall, Drogheda on 22 July, 2017.

Kirk, who has no previous convictions, was granted legal aid.
