Drove off without paying

AFTER paying €100 compensation to the owner, and a further €100 to charity, a 22-year-old man has had a theft charge struck out.

Nicholas Neary, Tullycahan, Louth, Dundalk, drove off without paying for €62-worth of fuel at Darby’s garage, Dunleer on 2 April, 2017.

The court heard the defendant is on disability benefit, which prompted the judge to remark, ‘It doesn’t interfere with his thieving.’
