Drogheda Youth Orchestral Players shine in Dublin

THE Drogheda Young Orchestral Players enthralled the audience in the National Concert Hall, Dublin, when they performed at the 23rd Annual Festival of Youth Orchestras.

This Orchestra, whose ages range from 8 years and upwards, was selected to play at this prestigiou­s event from applicatio­ns nationwide and were so happy to represent Drogheda. Not only representi­ng Drogheda , they premiered a new Piece of Music about our historic town called “Our Town” 1st. Movement “The Sabbath Rang Slowly” depicting the changing bell patterns of “St. Peters Church of Ireland” and our town clock “The Tholsel”, this Piece of music was written by our own local and wonderful composer Michael Holohan. The Orchestra were so happy that Michael joined them on Glockenspi­el for the Performanc­e.

Other music performed on the day was Braveheart Medley arranged by fantastic Ardee arranger Paul O Brien and German Dance No. 3/ Sleigh Ride by Mozart.

The Orchestra would like to thank Our Lady s College, Greenhills for rehearsal facilities and the Augustinia­n Community for their continued support.

Floral Art table quiz

Drogheda & District Floral Art Group invite you to a Table Quiz on Tuesday the 13th of March at 8pm, in the Holy Family Community Centre, Ballsgrove. The quiz master will be the very humorous Christophe­r O’Brien-Lynch. Everyone Welcome.

Mike Denver in concert

One of Ireland’s most popular “Country’ singers Mike Denver has once again had a recent sellout Nationwide Tour with ‘Full Houses’ at Concert venues North and South.

Now he brings that show to the TLT on Friday March 23.

The ‘Galway Boy’ is getting more popular as each year passes. Mike has already built up a huge following on the Irish Circuit and has achieved 14 ‘Hit’Albums and 10 best selling DVD’s. A new DVD has just been released and is now on sale at all his shows.

St Brigid’s

St Brigid’s Drama Group present Steel Magnolias in April. Directed by Barbara Carr, it runs from 17th Apr - 21st Apr in the Droichead at 8pm. Tickets are €12.
