True angels in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital

-

Dear Editor,

How blessed are we, the residents of Drogheda and County Louth , to have the wonderful staff and the exceptional caring facility of the Lourdes Hospital on our doorstep or within a short drive. There are simply no words that we could use to thank them all for their hard work, their dedication, their kindness and their humanity.

A special lady in our lives passed away in those safe and comforting hands on Saturday morning 24th February. Rushed in by ambulance on the previous Tuesday afternoon, during her stay she had been treated with the utmost respect while receiving superb treatment.

At the age of 90 years and with a serious health condition , her death was perhaps inevitable yet every attempt was made to ensure that she had a painless, fear free and a peaceful passing to her eternal reward.

Our family were offered similar kindness and courtesy as we spent three full nights at her side. Hourly, they checked on all of us and it would be impossible to adequately thank them. Their consideration and thoughtfulness was far beyond what would be expected or indeed required.

May we say from the bottom of our hearts, a sincere thank you to all of the staff members that we were so privileged to meet during those days and nights. The ambulance crew that facilitated her removal to the Lourdes; the staff at A/E and Resuscitation unit and to everyone on the first floor Respiratory Ward. We will be eternally grateful for all your genuine support and care.

Yours, Michelina and Joe Reid, Sandpit, Termonfeckin.
