overall. Next in was Gerry Mullins who ran a decent 1:41:37, with Aoife Harmon close behind in 1:43:12.

Sean Corcoran ran well to finish in 1:45:00, followed by Carmel Keenan in 1:48:51. Niamh Matthews, who ran 1:49:25, just pipped Adrian Gogarty by a mere second, while also running were Paul Barrell who ran 1:55:14 and Michael Aylward who finished in 2:02:37.

The weather Gods certainly weren’t smiling down on last Saturday’s Carlingfor­d Half-Marathon. Having been cancelled from the previous week due to the snow, the second attempt at running this event attracted a biting east wind and heavy rain which left a fair amount of the course flooded in parts.

Mike Staunton, one of D&D’s distance men, got himself into a steady rhythm early on and covered the ground well to complete the course in 1:55:47. Not far behind was Barney Flannery who had a decent run to finish in 2:00:10.

In Saturday’s Oldbridge Parkrun, Leva Ofmane was D&D’s first finisher - 19th in 23:37. Seamus Roe crossed the line in 31st place in 25:20, with Ruth Dunne further back in 51st place in 30:33.

Gerard Fay made the short trip to Raheny last Wednesday for round eight of their Winter Road League and ran a time of 15:31 for the two-mile lap. DAY four of the Leinster Juvenile Championsh­ips took place on Sunday in the Athlone IT Arena where Cushinstow­n AC were down to 11 athletes who did themselves and their club proud with a nice haul of nine medals.

Amy Callaghan was in winning form, claiming the gold medal in the U-15 shot putt and jumping very well in the high jump to claim the silver. Amy Bellew also threw well in the U-15 shot and was unfortunat­e to just miss out on the medals, coming fifth overall.

James Bellew and Lee Callaghan both did very well in the U-13 high jump to claim the silver and bronze medals respective­ly, with Lee jumping a personal best of 1.30m. In the U-13 shot putt Lee also put in a great performanc­e and threw a personal best of 7.28m to put him in eighth position overall, while in the 60m hurdles Lee performed very well and just missed out on getting through to the final.

In the U-14 long jump Laura Bolster claimed the gold with a jump of 4.61m and Ella Barry won bronze with a great jump of 4.50m, while in the 60m hurdles Ella Barry (U-14) was in flying form, winning the bronze medal.

Mollie White ran brilliantl­y in the U-15 60m hurdles to get through to the final and claim the gold medal.

In the Boys U-14 60m hurdles Loclainn Harris did brilliantl­y, getting through to the final and coming third. He also put in a great performanc­e in the U-14 long jump, coming fifth.

Nia Hetherton put in a great performanc­e in the U-12 long jump, coming ninth in a very large group of 38 athletes. Nia also jumped very well in the high jump, coming sixth.

Both Ellen Gough and Aoife Rohan threw well in the very strong U-13 shot putt event. Aoife Rohan put in a great performanc­e in the U-12 high jump, coming fourth. Aoife also ran very well in the 60m hurdles, getting through to the final and coming fifth overall.
