Big crowd for reschedule­d presentati­on night

DROGHEDA School of Karate’s delayed Annual Presentati­on Awards Night took place last Wednesday evening and attracted a big crowd to the Drogheda Special Olympics Club.

The event was originally scheduled for February 28th, which was the club’s 49th birthday, but it had to be postponed owing to the severe weather conditions and worries about the safety of people travelling.

The first presentati­ons were for double category winners for the Easter 2017 Competitio­n and these went to Kerry Tiernan and Rayan Essel-Mensah.

Joseph Floyd, Dearbhaile Nulty and Rayan Essel-Mensah were the double category winners for the Christmas 2017 Competitio­n and other awards were as follows:

Special Category: Joseph Floyd, Christen Matthews, Timur Bersunkoea and Jake Hanratty.

3Kyu Grade Promotions: Kerry Tiernan, Joseph Floyd and Padraig Mc Cabe.

Appreciati­on Awards (2): The Special Olympics Club (Miriam & Sean Carolan).

Joseph Shields Perpetual Trophy 2017: 1st Rayan Essel-Mensah 14pts, 2nd= Kerry Tiernan & Dearbhaile Nulty 12pts.

Clare Nulty Perpetual Trophy 2017: 1st Dearbhaile Nulty 23pts, 2nd Kerry Tiernan 22pts, 3rd Miriam Essel-Mensah 10pts.

Children’s Sport Star of the Year 2017: 1st Rayan Essel-Mensah, 2nd= Kerry Tiernan & Dearbhaile Nulty.

Adult Sport Star of the Year: Barry Roe.

Rosemary Nulty, the Drogheda School of Karate Management Committee secretary, presented all the awards on the night.
