Natural options for recovery from the flu

- WITH CLAIR WHITTY

Did you get the flu this year? How are you now? Feeling tired and worn out still? A lot of people got the flu this year even people who don’t normally get sick. The symptoms lasted for longer than is usual, they were more severe, and a lot of you were left feeling extremely tired afterwards.

Many of you haven’t gotten your full energy back yet and you still have all the usual commitments to keep but no energy to do anything.

Here are some remedies to get you back on track. Take a good quality multi-vitamin to top up on your diet to ensure that you have a decent level of all the vitamins required for energy production.

Or you could try Bio-Strath Elixer, now simply called Strath. This is a traditional remedy to help relieve fatigue, increase energy, and help the body’s own vitality levels. It gently supports and strengthens immunity. Over the years I have had fantastic feedback on this remedy.

You may need something to give the immune system an extra boost so that you can fight off recurring infections. Echinacea, Olive Leaf Extract, Beta Glucans , Zinc and Vitamin C, and D all support immunity. You could try one or other of these, or look for a product with a combination of them; Natures Aid Beta- Glucans Immune Support is a good option.

Some of you will have had to take an antibiotic; if you did you definitely need to take a probiotic/acidophilus supplement. Antibiotics kill disease-causing bacteria that cause infection but an antibiotic will not recognise good gut bacteria and will kill them too. So if you have had an antibiotic then make sure to take a probiotic/acidophilus supplement. Take a good quality high strength one. Even if you didn’t have an antibiotic a probiotic is a good supplement to take to support your immunity.

If you’re feeling stressed then adaptogenic herbs help the body deal with the stress, improve energy, and also support immunity. These herbs include Ashwaganda, Astragulus, and Ginseng.

So for optimum recovery and to help you get back to normal as quickly as you can, take a good multivitamin or Bio Strath you will feel the difference.
