Dreadnots build on bright start

-

DREADNOTS GERALDINES 1-12 0-7

A strong first half showing laid the foundations for the Dreadnots’ victory over Geraldines at Darver on Thursday night.

In a game affected by the conditions, the Clogherhead men were nine points to the good at the break and although the Gers improved in the second period it wasn’t enough to deny the Dreadnots.

They made full use of the conditions in the opening half with some well taken points and a goal from Peter Kirwan to lead by 1-8 to 0-2 at the break. It might have been different for the Gers but they saw a late goal chance come back off the post.

The Gers did enjoy a better share of the possession and points from Des Reenan and Conor Rafferty helped them cut the gap to three but were unable to find the goal needed to give them any real hope.

Although they did manage to outscore their opponents by 0-5 to 0-4 the Dreadnots were always in control and held out for a comfortable eight point victory with the help of scores from James Califf and Liam Shevlin.
