ST BRIDES 2-4

HUNTERSTOWN Rovers claimed their second Paddy Sheelan Cup victory on the bounce as they proved too strong for St Brides in Darver on Friday night.

The early exchanges in this Group D contest were one-sided early on as Hunterstown raced into a commanding seven point lead before Aaron Hoey opened the Brides account with a point on 19 minutes.

St Brides were given hope when a long ball in from Emmet Kirk was fumbled on the line and ended up in the back of the net. However, the joy was short lived as just before the short whistle Robbie Brennan raised a green flag for Hunterstown town to send his side in leading by 1-8 to 1-2.

The Knockbridge side were back in contention when Paddy Reilly added his side’s second goal to keep them in touch.

However, there was to be no denying Hunterstown as they moved up a gear and added six points to their tally to complete a seven point win with Paul Carrie and Alan Landy in fine scoring form.
